The father of "Pumpkin", Nai Xin Xue, describes himself as grand master of Wu Tai Chi, or shadow boxing.
Mr Xue, who is being hunted by Interpol and police in the United States after dumping his daughter at a Melbourne railway station before boarding a flight to Los Angeles, has his own website dealing with the ancient Chinese martial art.
The website says the discipline can provide its exponents with the mental strength to cope with "emptiness" while building "good health".
Mr Xue refers to himself on the website as Xue Naiyin and calls his Wu Tai Chi version Internal Energy Kung Fu.
He says the martial art can show how to "control solidity and emptiness in training as all strategists do in war".
"Great Master Xue Naiyin is the successor of the sixth generation and he is one of the few that was formally named as international famous Tai Chi Master," the website says.
"The contains (sic) of this website is priceless for all style Tai Ji practitioners because these are the condensation of Master Xue's long term teaching experience and his extensive study in Chinese Martial."
Tai Chi Australia chief executive and Oceania general secretary Han Jin Song said he has never heard of Mr Xue.
"I have seen his website and he is certainly not as famous as he promotes himself," Mr Han said.
"He may be good, but he's not that good."
Mr Han said Wu Tai Chi was designed to improve people's health and stress levels.
"The slow gentle movements can calm your mind and nervous system and it disciplines your mental side, it helps you concentrate," he said.
He said he was surprised by Mr Xue's actions of abandoning his daughter.
"Grand masters have high moral standards, high family values," he said.
"There has to be some special reason why he has done this, something unexpected for this man to do this kind of thing."
